The Swedish-speaking author and artist Tove Jansson became famous worldwide as the creator of the Moomin stories, which are about a family of adventurous trolls that live in Moomin Valley with their friends. The two designs of the AW22 collection – Moomin Camping and Moomin Present – originate from the ”Desert Island” and ”Family Life” comic strips. Both were first published in the 1950s as daily comic strips in the Evening News, an English newspaper. The comic strips quickly became a great success and helped pave the way for the further refinement of Tove Jansson’s work. The daily comic strips were based on the wonderful world of the Moomins, with plenty of amusing and wacky stories that can be interpreted on multiple levels. They were recognised for their engaging storytelling, humour and creativity.
